Hi My name is Rick, and I'm the Editor of a magazine called Philosophy Now: http://www.philosophynow.org I have a long-standing interest in space exploration. As a teenager I attended a wonderful series of Christmas Lectures (at the Royal Institution in London) given by Carl Sagan on the subject of exploring the solar system. I was an avid sci-fi fan and later my interest in space travel was at least partly responsible for me choosing to study physics at university. Later I became interested in philosophy, but my original interest in space exploration has never gone away. I hope to chat with like-minded spirits via this forum! Among the inspirations for this forum were the Frontier Status reports edited by Dale M. Gray. These fact-filled email news roundups were sent out weekly for several years until 2002. Their clipped, precise prose conveyed a real sense of the excitement of a new age, and I missed them when they finished. They can still be found archived at: http://www.frontierstatus.com |
